Oncology Clinical Data Support Specialist

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Manager of Oncology, the Clinical Data Support Specialist [CDSS] performs assigned duties such as cancer case-finding, collection of cancer treatment records, and follow-up activities to support the identification, collection, and processing of reportable cancer cases to maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation agencies.
 
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Processes case finding resources as defined in the Cancer Registry Policy and Procedure Manual. 
  • Utilizing electronic processes and sources to maintain required case follow-up as defined in the Cancer Registry Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Collect treatment records and provide information to Cancer Registry Coordinator.
  • When applicable, track Cancer Conference information needed for accreditation based on the current standards. Update and maintain tracking tools after each conference.
  • Provides support to the team as needed to assist with special projects, surveys, audits, database maintenance, and other activities as requested.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to evaluate concordance with cancer program accreditation and other applicable standards.
  • Exposure to multiple patient medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases.
  • Anatomy and physiology knowledge
  • Currently enrolled in a Cancer Registry Management program and actively completing first semester coursework (or equivalent experience in cancer registry)

  • Consistently and clearly communicates, adjusting style and tone as needed to collaborate with hospital partners, peers, team leads, and others.
  • Demonstrates strong self-organizational and time management skills to manage multiple accounts, adjusting as needed to shifting timelines and priorities.
  • Adapts to changes in hospital partner timelines, requirements, and project assignments.
  • Managing a high degree of responsibility to keep PHI secure and confidential.

The target wage range for this role is $19.00 – $22.00 per hour. Individual wage rates within this range are based on multiple factors including but not limited to skills, experiences, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational considerations. Wage ranges are reviewed, at minimum, annually and all team members are eligible for performance-based wage rate increases annually.  The Q-Centrix compensation plan is productivity and accuracy focused, therefore, actual compensation could be higher or lower than target, dependent upon the team member’s performance.
